This weekend Ogmore Vale RFC hosted Fall Bay RFC after a few weeks off due to International Fixtures. With the game hampered by crazy weather conditions neither team took off and the first half was a battle of defences as well as a bucket load of handing errors from both teams.
Ogmore Vale played with a strong wind behind them first half and applied a lot of pressure but were unable to create any clear scoring opportunities.
Half time score 0-0.
Fall Bay kicked off the second half with the wind behind them, only for Ogmore Vale to continue to apply pressure, this time turning it into the first point of the game. After a few strong carries from the pack it was ever present prop Jamie Powell who powered his way over the line with Winger Tom Dunn added the extra two points in very tricky goal kicking situations.
With twenty minutes remaining it saw the long-awaited return for Outside Half Ryan Jones who due to injury before preseason hasn’t played a single minute of rugby this year. With an instant impact into the game it was a high kicked well placed and caught by scrum half Leon Jones to cross over for the second try of the game again converted by Tom Dunn.
Fall Bay created very little and left the game with no points, a strong resolute defence from the home side saw them take all four points and final score 14-0 to Ogmore Vale RFC.
Another break is on the horizon due to International fixtures so Ogmore Vale will travel to league leaders South Gower in their next fixture hoping to defeat them for the first time this season.
