Cwmtwrch RFC 29 - 15 Ogmore Vale RFC

This weekend Ogmore Vale RFC travelled to Cwmtwrch RFC to fulfil their league fixture. Ogmore Vale were hoping to complete the double after a convincing victory at home early in the season.

It was the home team who scored the first points of the afternoon, easing their way past the visitor’s defence to take the lead 5-0. Ogmore Vale reacted well to going behind and scored shortly after. Hooker Gareth Dunn levelling the score at 5-5.

In form Winger Tom Dunn then dived over to make it as many scores in as many weeks, the winger finishing off a well worked move crossing for his third try in 3 games.

The game was evenly matched throughout the half and the home side struck back with another score to make it 10-10 before eventually taking the lead for a second time crossing for their third try of the first half 17-10.

Another score from the home side pushed them further in front 22-10 before Tom Dunn showed enough quality to get him over the try line for his second of the game and taking his try tally to a career best of 4 in a season.

Ogmore tried to create but failed to capitalise. Another try from the home side allowed them to take all 5 points on offer this afternoon and expand the gap in the league standings to six points but Ogmore Vale RFC have a slight advantage having 3games in hand. Final Score Cwmtwrch RFC 29 – 15 Ogmore Vale RFC.

Next week Ogmore Vale host Rhigos RFC in the league. Rhigos sitting one league position above Ogmore Vale holding a 3-point advantage playing a game more. This will be a entertaining encounter. Last meeting earlier in the season saw OVRFC snatch a vital win.
